How Long?

Washington (CNN)President Donald Trump has filed for an extension of his 2016 taxes, a White House official confirmed to CNN Saturday.
__________
"Members that could determine the majority have no use for Trump. He's sitting in the 30s in their districts. They've been trying to manage him, but they're fed up. He didn't win their districts, lost them badly. ... Coming off this, doing a crisis a minute with Trump, they have no reason to stick with Trump, and they won't."
__________
“Overnight we’ve seen more than [£5,000] bet on Trump to leave before the end of his first term, and we expect to see a lot more bet today, with his odds now shortening from evens into 5/6,” Katie Baylis, spokeswoman at Betfair PPB, +1.66%  , said in a note Wednesday morning. That implies a 55% probability that the president will exit before his term ends.
__________
WASHINGTON — President Trump does not plan to invoke executive privilege to try to prevent James B. Comey, the former F.B.I. director, from providing potentially damaging testimony to Congress on statements the president made about an investigation into his former national security adviser, two senior administration officials said Friday.
__________
The FBI and Congress are examining a campaign event last spring during which Donald Trump, Jeff Sessions and Jared Kushner were in a small gathering with Russian ambassador to the U.S. Sergey Kislyak and other diplomats at Washington's Mayflower Hotel, multiple U.S. officials told NBC News.
So, the question of the day... "How long to the point of no return?"  Will 'The Donald' finish his first term, or will impeachment or resignation come first?

(Just got out of the hospital after a week-long stay, so please forgive my recent relative absence.  I'm okay, though.  Trump's Presidency?  I'm beginning to wonder...)

  1. Impeachment or resignation? I could be wrong, but, I don't think Trump has the character to resign. Certainly not until impeachment appears certain. He's going to continue to flail about and claim the news agencies are reporting fake news and the American people love him. He has serious difficulty facing reality and the truth.

It would be best if he resigned, however, I'd be less than honest if I didn't acknowledge I'd probably enjoy watching the spectacle of a Trump impeachment. It couldn't happen to a more deserving dolt.

    1. "I can hardly wait until he's re-elected!"

Jersey, the offer for that bet (remember?) is still on.

As long as the Dummocrats keep fiddling to try and get Trumpo impeached (that simply means President M.Pence, anyway), Trumpo will be a two term president.

I don't see what's so hard to understand there.

    2. Thersites, I'm with you. I just wonder which crook will the Democrats choose to run in 2020. Pass the popcorn!

  3. So, Thersites says not only will he not be impeached or resign, but will be reelected! If Trump survives this term, this could be a possibility, dependent on how the the next three years go. Being still very new to all this, and politics in incessant flux, he may find a way to do that. Let's just hope that way isn't war, though the American people are very wary of any new wars, so hopefully he will not see that as a good option.

Les predicts a Nixon redux, and that's what I'm thinking, because he certainly does not want to hear, "You're fired!"

Now, there is a third possibility - a palace coup. Pence and the cabinet could turn on him, say he's unfit for office, prove it (easy enough) and bango - Pence is the next President. The catch? Trump is far more popular and a has a much broader base than the GOP, and it would have to take a lot of GOP politicians to back that option, much like an impeachment, but without any clear violation of war to have for cover. If Trump voters feel the GOP has martyred Trump solely for political reasons, they may respond by turning their backs on the GOP or even switching sides to punish them.

    What about this third option?

    1. Pence is the Establishment. If they attempt a coup, the GOP, as a political party, will be kaput.

Either the establishment climbs aboard the Trump train, or they'll be left at the station.

The Neocons (Scoop Jackson Democrats), on the other hand, will go back to the DNC and strengthen the Hillary wing against the Socialist Left.

      Delete
    2. That's an interesting outcome, but is there a market for the Scoop Jackson-minded in the Democratic Party today? Even at least just superficially? We're just a few years away from the Third Way Democrats being extinct. Look at Joe Lieberman. Look at the way Clinton completely misunderstood the electorate. Were it not for partisan politics and the lingering presence of old ERA-era white women and old Civil Rights-era black voters, mostly in the South, in the Democratic Party, Bernie Sanders would probably be the President right now.

This is why Hillary lost the primaries in 2008 - she supported the war. It is a myth that Obama won that solely because he was black. It was his consistent stand against the "Dumb War" that brought him nomination. He was the only one (well, the only one they felt could go all the way).

But history and the fact that Hillary did win the nomination quite decisively (DNC shenanigans don't explain her margin of victory), and the fact the Democrats were always politically weak-kneed when dealing the MIC and jingoism despite some of the rhetoric (Hillary's support the "Dumb War" would be the perfect example).

So you very well may have something there...

    3. The global corporatists have GOT to go somewhere, Jersey. They've all become "NeverTrumpers" on the Right, and "I'm with Hillary-ers" on the Left. Absent a "parliamentary" system, the DNC's the only place left for them to go.

IMO, it's not about "war". It's about economics/ global capital. Yes, there are many on the Left who seek open borders and support the COMINTERN, but you've never had to deal with the jihadi's before. They won't stop until global capital's a "distant memory". Cuz its keeping all them jihadi's "unemployed" and "unemployable". They can't compete against automated 3rd world labour. No one can.

  4. To start off, Good Luck JMJ with your health issues and hope it turns out OK.

    RN,
Impeach DJT on what grounds? Oh that's right, a rumor or notes from someone he fired. Maybe they should subpoena Putin and get him to tell the truth. Ironic how the democrats are touting the same polls used during the election because they were so accurate.

This is the same party who thought -H- was the next coming. The same person who blames Russia, Comey, DNC and Macedonia for her loss and you believe her.

    1. Well skudrunner, all I will say is Comey is a man respected by many. Trump has shown himself to be a liar with little to no integrity.

Believe whatever you chose to believe. The truth will be known.

    2. Hey, thanks Skud. You're a good egg. It's a tough fight, I've had some good rounds, and some bad, it's like the Thrilla in Manila, I came in strong, took a beating later in, came back swinging, and am now just fighting-it-out the last rounds. I'll win, I promise.

Impeachment would probably involve either a Nixonian cover-up (covering up for other people doing something he was barely aware of because they had other goods on him), some kind of quid pro quo promise to Putin that he was directly aware of, or some kind of personal or financial entanglement that could render him unfit.

These are the sorts of issues people are looking into. If he's clean, then fine. But you do have to admit, this doesn't look great. If Obama or Bill Clinton had the same sorts allegations facing them, I'm infinitely certain the Right would be calling for the firing squad.

So you believe Comey will admit to purgery in order to take DJT down. If he does I have a new respect for him but I can't see that happening.

  5. I don't think he'll be impeached, but as he's a tender little snowflake, I wouldn't be surprised if he threw a monumental tantrum and resigned.

  8. Thanks guys. My biggest problem now is just getting help. No one wants my insurance. I'm going to try to switch plans, and see if I can get what I need. Or, I'll have to do a lot of very uncomfortable traveling. The chemo combined with already extant injuries left me extremely beat-up. I have surgeries coming up, and I have some good doctors on my side, so I really think I can get back to the old fit, strong, Jersey McJones. Just gonna take a little while and some toughing it out and getting back in shape again. So far cancer free, and have a scan coming up soon, so I'll let you know the news as it comes.

    Thanks, I mean it.

LOL. After the Hillary poll disaster people still put capital in 'probabilities'?

I'd put my money on Trumpo staying the course: the return (odds) will be better! ;-)

  12. Boycott Steven Colbert! He was Disgusting and degrading to our President and now to our First Lady, and to everyone else in their family . Patriotic Americans are fed up with the low intelligence and morals our news media is providing. They have no awareness of the loyalty, morals and pride of Americans fighting to keep our country free. It's very sad! What a mountain of ill-mannered, despicable trash is being dumped on Americans everyday. Don't you all have enough intelligence to recognize you're being manipulated? Everyone disrespecting our country, in any way, should be held accountable. Freedom of speech is precious to us all. When someone is maliciously attacking our President and his family, it should be firmly addressed. Our freedoms are based on respect for one another another. When there is no dignity and pride, our freedoms are not respected and we begin to lose our freedom.

  15. There is a Christian Fireman named Mark Taylor who had a dream in 2011 that Donald Trump became President of the USA. In 2012, he wondered why Trump didn't run. Around late 2014 to early 2015, he said God told him that America wasn't ready yet for Donald Trump, so God waited patiently. In early 2016, I saw the videos on you tube about the prophecies of Trump becoming President against all odds. The prophecies said enemies of the United States both from afar and from within were going to spend massively obscene amounts of money in an attempt to keep Trump from becoming President, only to find their efforts wasted and wiped out. The Democratic Party fulfilled that prophecy by nominating a power hungry crooked politician Hillary Clinton as its candidate. The bitter smackdown of defeat that Hillary felt as part of the punishment from God was part of the prophecies. The continued rebellion is also fulfilling the prophecies at the moment, as Trump goes after the crooked politicians on both sides of the aisle. Right now, there are some scandals brewing in the Supreme Court, as several justices will get caught in the future scandals, forcing them to resign. The judges will likely be the liberal ones getting caught up in some dirty deeds. Trump will serve for 8 years as President, bringing prosperity back to the USA.

  23. Just got the word on Who's Your Daddy that Jersey passed away yesterday. He's in heaven, watching over us. The cancer spread to his brain. However, Satan didn't win. Jersey made peace with Jesus Christ when he and his wife got the news from the doctor. He changed his mind at the end, and gave Satan the boot. Hey Jersey Mac, see you in heaven when my time comes! We'll have ice cream when we meet!

  27. I JUST found out about Jersey. Here is what I wrote on my own Facebook page, where over 90% of my friends (like me) are conservative Republicans:

"Oh my God! I had no idea Jersey McJones died. I had not heard from in ages but thought he was just busy.

I am a conservative Republican. Every day he would come on my blog and hammer me. Starting in 2007, he was a daily pain in the rump. Yet somehow, we liked each other. My only rules were no profanity and no personal attacks. He attacked my arguments within the rules.

Sometimes he drove me bonkers. Many of my conservative readers wanted me to ban him. I would tell them, 'I CAN'T ban him.' They'd tell me it was my blog, I could do whatever I wanted. I told them, 'No. Conservative Republicans are all about rules. He obeys the rules. I can't ban him. If you have a problem with him, defeat his arguments.'

Sometime 3 or 4 years ago, my blog got overwhelmed by spambots. The only way to stop it was to ban all comments. It was heartbreaking for me to do this, and I personally explained to Jersey that he was not the only one being banned. Everyone was. I lost touch with him after that, regrettably so.

We both loved football. He was a Jets fan. I am a Raiders fan. We were both loyal fans, despite this being a touch century for both of us. He actually was very encouraging when the Raiders showed improvement. I was hoping the Jets would win the AFC East again in his lifetime.

Despite being completely different from me, Jersey was with me from the very beginning. He was one of my very first readers and commenters.

I know he is in heaven driving a ton of people of all persuasions crazy. Jersey once said that he thought God was like Ed Schultz, but slightly different. Now Jersey is with them both.

Jersey, rest in peace you liberal pain the rump. I'm better off for having interacted with you.

    eric @ Tygrrrr Express"

I really have no idea what made me think of him tonight after all this time.

Take the time to tell someone important to you who you disagree with that they matter.

Jersey, I know you're up there. I know you can hear me. I still think you're wrong about every issue. I miss you. You mattered.
